        Wine is an alcoholic beverage obtained from the fermented juice of freshly harvested grapes. it is prepared from both the grapes white and black. there are many varieties of grapes produced  and used for wine. the colour , flavour, and aroma of the wine is depend of the types of grapes which used in production. 

       Sugar and yeasts are essential for fermentation to occur and the acid, pigments, and tannins are necessary for a wine to have a good bouquet, taste, colour, body and balance. all are available naturally in each grape in varying proportions according to the grape variety, the type of soil in which the wines grow and the climate.

 VARIETIES OF GRAPES

List of the white grapes 


1. Chardonnay : this is a classic grape variety which comes originally from Burgundy, france. it is one of the types of grapes used in the production of champagne.

2. Sauvignon blanc : it is the principal grape variety used in the production of excellence white wines of bordeaux and Loire valley.

3. Chenin blanc : it is grown in the Anjou, Saumur, and Touraine districts of Loire, France.

4. Riesling : this grape is from Germany. mosel, and Rhine wines of Germany are produced from  this grape. 
 
5. Semillion : it is grown in Graves, Sauternes, and Barsac regions of france.

6. Pinot blanc : this grapes is from alsace in france, trentino in italy.

7. Pinot gris: it is grown in northern italy, alsace in france and baden in germany.

8. Muscat :  this grapes is from most of italy,greece,midi in france.

1. Cabernet sauvignon : this is a black grape of remarkable quality. it is considered to be the best in the world and is used in the production of most prestigious chateaux wines of Medoc of the Bordeaux region of france.

2. Pinot noir :  it is a classic grape variety of Burgundy and Champagne. produces all the great red wines of burgundy.

3. Merlot: it is an early ripening red variety from the pomerol district of Bordeaux.

4. Syrah (shiraz) : it is the main grape of northern Cotes du rhone.

5. Barbera : this grape is from piedmont in italy, south america, california.

6. Gamay: france in beaujolais and loire, Switzerland, and california.

7. Meunier: this grapes is also called 'pinot meunier'. it's comes from champagne region of france . 

8. Brunello: this grape is from tuscany in italy.
